Insurance where to get it?

Postby wez » Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:55 am

I am 27, male and hold a provisonal for 1 year, never been insured by myself (named driver but not a full year),
drive a 00 Fiat Punto 1.2 worth €2000.

I decided to check out as many insurance company's as I could for insurance.

This is the results they are all TPFT (third party, fire & theft)

Hibernian: €1281.05
One Direct: €1325.05 who sell Hibernian
Quinn Direct: €1206.66
AIB: €1672.76
Tesco: €1526.34 also Hibernian
Allianz: €1626.78
123.ie: €833.30 this was with Eagle Star
Eagle Star don't do online quotes on there own site so had to go through 123.ie
AXA Direct don't do online quotes, they think that nobody wants online quotes, thats what it says on there website!
insureme.ie: gave me four choices belive it or not the two below were the best
Hibernian broker motorchoice €1848.79
AXA motor first basic €2339.43
AXA motor first standard €2362.72
AXA motor first plus €2432.48

I think you can guess which one I went for. although I opted to decress the excess from €500 to €375 and get windscreen cover the final total was €871 and comprehensive would have been just €60 more.
and I always though Eagle Star was tough on learners. but look at the differance.

Hibernian is good from my experience.

Stay away from Quinn, bunch of %$^&%#, and if you claim no matter how small they don't want to pay and if they do agree to pay they take forever

AXA only want you if your over 60 and use your car once a year to go to the shop for milk, hence why they don't do online quotes since most of their customers are pre internet era.

The rest you listed i don't know about ;)

Well good thing I came in to AXA then !
First of all, yes I do work for AXA. Bear in mind I'm not speaking for the company but as myself with subjectivity and opinions.
AXA actually now do online insurance, from quotes to purchase with online servicing. And 10% cheaper if you do it online too.
But i'm not here to make a sales pitch (even if it does look like it).

I would simply like to point out that regarding being over 60 and driving to get milk, this presents a risk as it involves driving near people (shopping areas) !
I'll need to check to see if we have to add a question at quote stage to check if you would be likely to go and pick up milk in areas which are populated...

OK, seriously, I would like to think we are not so bad especially since there's the online facility. True we are not the cheapest but pretty competitive for a company who settles claims well and has a great satisfaction rate.

Anyway, I'm trying to get AXA out there in the online world and if you have any suggestions, feel free to continue this thread !

Hope the person who started the topic found a good deal anyway.

Other expression see a lot is,
I know spam is not allowed but would just like to say

However, in interest of fair play, will allow "right to reply" but allowing it to remain is in no way an endorsement of AXA

Fair play to you John.
I don't want online presence of companies to become a simple new way of doing advertising. There's plenty on television and on the street as it is. Tough one to explain to the sales focused people though !

There is nothing new about spamming forums. I have had to modify this forum several times to stop automated programmes from spamming. It is an unending fight. I know of several forums who had to close simply because they could not keep up, outwit the automated spammer.

From the logs I see that at least 750 attempts are made each and every day to join this forum by these robots.

I can not stop the human spammer, only delete their posts.

I pay to have this forum hosted and must spend time running it, why should I allow anybody to spam their products for free. If I did, then forum would consist of mainly spam messages and no one would bother reading.

Any company that resorts to spamming has no integrity.

After posting this am deleting the latest member to join. He is a human spammer, ISP is in India and from his email address guess he intends to advertise a company in Florida (If he got the chance)

He beat me to it. Got in his post at viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1420

Deleted him but left the post, just to show. When he posted he would have attempted to have an URL to a website as his signature, but have a stop on new posters doing this,

That is known as comment spam - just a one or two line comment with a link to a website. For every day that the link remains the poster receives payment.

Spamming forums is big business, used only by low life people/companies
