EDT Spreadsheet. 11

Postby john » Fri Jun 10, 2011 8:15 am

Hi,

OK, have got two new pupils who come under the EDT scheme.

Decided to use Microsoft Office to open the spreedsheet to enter their details..

It does not work. Refuses to accept the logbook number on the first line, happily accepts on the 2nd line. Another problem, can not enter anything into "EDT Lesson Code" on the first three lines

Have exchanged a few emails with Ballina, first received assurances a new draft on the way, then yesterday received following

"We will be sending an email later today with further instructions for the EDT spreadsheet."

Was also on the telephone, and was informed it was "Just an I.T. problem" Was also told that they will shortly have the form on the RSA website which will be used instead of the present spreadsheets. When this is up and running you will not forward the spreadsheet once a month from your computer, instead all details will be entered by you directly into the website form.

Happy days

I just received the email from the RSA containing the updated version of the EDT spreadsheet and they appear to have sorted out the previous glitches.

I was able to enter the required information and send it to them with no difficulties, and this from a guy with very little IT capabilities.

I had wasted a considerable amount of time trying to get the previous spreadsheets they sent us to work without success, particularly the first one brick_wall

Hi John Cork,

Like you I wasted a lot of time with previous versions. Idiots should have tested it first before release.

New version works fine, so far.

I understood that you send the spreadsheet only about once a month ?

The girl on the phone told me yesterday that when the online form is up and running, it will be the only way that they will accept the details of the ADI's pupils and lessons. I pointed out that this will cause ADIs extra work but she denied this.

However from the emails received todays seems she was wrong and they will continue to accept spreadsheets sent via email

I was told that the current situation whereby ADI's fill in the spreadsheet given to us today is only temporary until they get a more permanent solution. Then we will enter all information directly on the RSA site. Each ADI will have a individual "PIN" for access to their own previously entered data to add to it or amend it as neccessary.

Inevitably the adding of information pertaining to the EDT lessons will result in some extra work for ADI's.... How can it not?

Presently I have 6 pupils at various stages of the EDT syllabus so today I had to enter details of all the lessons they had completed to date, this of course does take time...... our time, for which we are not paid.

It is not a absolute requirement to allow monthly intervals between emailing details of conducted EDT lessons. From communication today with the RSA I was told that you can email them updated information each and every day if you so wish.

A point I sought clarification on was..... When we enter the information on the spreadsheet and send it to the RSA are we supposed to save it and add to it each time we send it to them or do we delete it and only send on new information each time?
The response I got was just to send on all new info each time but to save the previous stuff to my computer.
